I know, I know, but just think about it for a minute. For many brides-to-be, renting their wedding gown is the only way they can afford a more expensive one. Certainly there are many new gowns in the $100.00 - $300.00 range, but the problem with a less expensive dress is it can be sparse on detailing and often looks economized. However, for about the same amount of money, she can rent a gorgeous designer wedding gown for her special day. So, what are the pro’s and con’s to owning versus renting your wedding gown?
Owning Pro’s – It’s yours forever; you can pass it on to your children or grandchildren.
Owning Con’s – The expense; what if your marriage ends; storage preparation is $100.00 or more.
Renting Pro’s – Far less expensive; money savings can be spent on the wedding, honeymoon or a home; no one will ever know.
Renting Con’s – It’s not yours to keep forever.
Okay, so this may seem a little bias but let me set the record straight; I purchased and still have my wedding gown at a cost of $1500.00 back in 1990. If I had it to do over, I would rent my wedding gown and use the savings on our honeymoon. Our honeymoon was wonderful, but it would have been great to go to some exotic locale like Fiji or Tahiti rather than South Padre Island, TX. What do you think? Would you buy or rent?
