Groom Arrested Hours After Wedding

It’s too late for the “cold feet” excuse, but here’s a bride who might be re-thinking her honeymoon plans.

Peter Villa was arrested Friday morning, just hours after his wedding, and charged with domestic violence by Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies.

According to investigators, Villa, 39, got upset with his new wife because he was unhappy with the number of attendees at their wedding, earlier in the day. Villa’s wife attempted to call 911 but Villa allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it across the room.

Investigators say Villa told his wife he had a gun and was ready to kill anyone who showed up at their home. Villa’s wife told deputies that he strangled her by the neck. Villa claimed to not remember what happened because he had been drinking at his wedding. The disgruntled groom was booked into Doña Ana County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Villa was charged with domestic violence aggravated battery against a household member, bribery of a witness, and interference with telecommunications.

How fast would you have your stuff packed if your husband went berserk on your wedding day?
